Default HELP! - recording home music

Hey everyone. It's been a while since I've been to the foum, but I have a technical question and thought this would be the best place to ask it.

I want to start posting videos on youtube of me just covering some songs. What I ideally want is a microphone that captures the sound great and a webcam that captures the video. I play bass so the mic would have to be good enough to handle that sound. But I also want to bring the gear to band sessions and videotape our jams with good clear sound. (Would the mic come with a program for my computer? How would the audio file go on my computer?)

My question is, does anyone recommend anything in particular to accomplish all this? Is there a combo mic/webcam I can purchase or is it best to get both separate.

Any help is appreciated.
Good to be back!

in my nothing, you meant everything... everything to me

I would find youtube videos that you like the quality of picture and sound and ask the maker how they did it.

I would use a relatively cheap Samson usb mic and record the audio and video separately. You can then just sync the video and audio with any number of open source editing programs.

If you are only going to use one mic, you are going to have to experiment with placement.

good luck!
